This premier US and international law firm have an excellent new opportunity for an Associate to join their busy and thriving IP, IT & Data Protection transactions group in London. The position sits within a closely-integrated UK, EU and US team that focuses on some of the most novel, cutting-edge and complex multinational transactions in the market. They frequently play a leading role in high-value corporate and commercial transactions across a diverse range of sectors and industries, spanning advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, music industry licensing and IP advice, household name brand licensing and sports team sponsorships, technology aspects of significant M&A transactions, software development and licensing, high-end luxury goods and hospitality, consumer products and fashion. They also regularly advise on emerging technologies and related regulation, including with respect to artificial intelligence and digital services, and additionally have deep expertise in the commercialisation and regulation of personal and non-personal data, both as part of standalone EU GDPR/UK DPA and EU Data Act advisory work for the leading global technology groups, and working with the firm’s competition and litigation teams on cutting-edge data issues in areas such as cybersecurity and incident response. For this particular role, the team are especially seeking someone with a genuine interest, and both technical and legal strengths, in the areas of IP and technology, who is able to effectively contribute to the IP, tech and DP aspects of major corporate and commercial transactions, as well as being able to advise widely on these topics on a stand-alone basis. Their ideal applicant will therefore have a varied combination of: (i) a focus on transactional IP and technology work, with commercial contracts and IP licensing experience; (ii) AI and emerging technologies advisory experience (including AI and digital services regulation); and (iii) data protection (GDPR/UK DPA) experience.
